FOSTEr in MED Partners met in Cagliari for the 2nd management meeting

Thursday 27th and Friday 28th February the project managers and financial managers of FOSTEr in med project met in Cagliari for a two- days management meeting in order to discuss the state of activities and plan the next steps for the second year of the project. “As project managers our task is to guarantee the symmetry of the project activities, following a shared approach. At the same time we have to satisfy local needs adopting a bottom up approach”, said the project manager Nicola Nieddu.

The project is financed for an amount of 4,05 million Euro by European union through the ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme (total amount of 4,5 million Euro). It aim to promote the adoption of innovative solar photovoltaic technologies with a strategic approach in six countries of Mediterranean area: Italy, Spain, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Tunisia. The first part of the meeting has been focused on the state of the main activities carried on during the first year of the project: the context analysis activity and the elaboration of the guidelines on new solar photovoltaic technologies and architectonic integration of solar plants in existing buildings and in new ones.

The context analysis includes a desk approach, the conduction of interviews of local stakeholders and the administration of questionnaire to the consumers. The activity, headed by the University of Cagliari, aim to provide an completed analysis of drivers, barriers and challenges to the PV diffusion.

Guidelines elaboration is an activity led by the Technical Scientific Committee (TSC) of the project. The aim is to implement and promote a share design methodology for photovoltaic technologies and their architectonic integration. Context analysis and the Guidelines are the starting points for organizing the foreseen activities of the second and the third year of the project: awareness rising activity, involving schools student, citizens and administrators; competence transfer activities for university students, designers and installers (SMEs); and Pilot projects implementation in order to test photovoltaic technological solutions and architectural integration in public buildings. During the meeting the partners have presented three public building options, the definitive ones will be presented during the next TSC meeting, which will be held in Beirut in June 2014. The second day of the meeting has been dedicated to financial issues.
