"Tourism Development Authority" planning a new solar power plant

General Tarek Saad El Din, Head of Tourism Development Authority stated that they are planning to build a solar power plant in Marsa Allam in cooperation with New and Renewable Energy Authority to serve the touristic projects in the region, pointing out that they still didn’t decide on the land by which the project will take place.

Tarek Shalaby, Vice President of Marsa Allam Investors’ Association added that they will apply for 600 thousand square meters from the government by concession to build the power plant that will serve 20 touristic compounds amounting with a total of 60 million euros, in addition to that, the Association is in the process of establishing a development company to implement this project in collaboration with a number of Italian companies working in the energy sector to supply necessary equipment for the establishment of the power plant.
